Thanks to the Esteemed President, interest in the Turkmenbashi International seaport is growing every day. On February 1, 2019, a meeting was held with representatives of the Japanese Association for Trade with Russia and the Newly Independent States (ROTOBO) at the Turkmenbashi International seaport. The purpose of the meeting was to conduct research by the Association, and the theme of the meeting was “The impact of signing the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian sea on regional development and future prospects”.

At the beginning of the meeting, the guests were informed about the new opportunities and innovative technologies of the port. Having listened carefully, the guests became interested in the port.

In turn, the guests discussed with port specialists on the impact of signing the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian sea on regional development and future prospects. The guests were told about the work carried out to date on the carriage of goods by sea between the Caspian countries and signed agreements between the Russian Federation, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Azerbaijan on increasing the number of vessels, on the carriage of goods in transit and other issues. It was also noted that, like all other countries, Turkmenistan also acts in accordance with the International Conventions on the maritime sphere and maintains friendly relations between the Caspian littoral countries. The signing of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian sea will further improve and strengthen these relations. Having listened attentively about the friendly relations between the countries, the guests noted this joyful and pleasant news.

Another possibility that attracted the attention of the guests is the exemption from customs duties for 3 years of cargo that arrive at the port. The guests wanted to discuss this opportunity for further cooperation.
